SALT LAKE CITY — Paul Huntsman, publisher of The Salt Lake Tribune, and Dave Cawley and Sheryl Worsley of KSL Radio will be keynote speakers at the SPJ Region 9 Conference — The New West — in Salt Lake City March 27-28.
Huntsman’s topic will be The Tribune‘s non-profit model for newspapers.
Cawley and Worsley will discuss the COLD Podcast and a new model for long-form journalism.
Cost and accommodation details are to be announced.
The conference will feature movie night on Thursday, March 26, for those arriving early, and tours of newsrooms will be offered during the day on Friday, March 27.
The conference will be in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City, at Impact Hub, 150 South State St. The conference will be hosted by the Utah Headliners Chapter of SPJ.
Here is the conference schedule:
- 5:00 pm – 6:00 pm — Beer and wine meet-and-greet
- 6:00 pm – 7:15 pm — Keynote: Paul Huntsman, Salt Lake Tribune. The Non-profit model.
- 7:15 pm – 8:00 pm — Networking and “Ask a Lawyer”
- 9:00 am – 9:30 am — Check-in and breakfast beverages
- 9:30 am – 11:00 am — Keynote: COLD Podcast, Dave Cawley and Sheryl Worsley of KSL Radio
- 11:15 am – 12:30 pm — Panel: The First Amendment and Disinformation, sponsored by Parr Brown
- 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm — Luncheon: Mark of Excellence regional award ceremony
- 1:45 pm – 4:30 pm — Breakout sessions
- 4:30 pm – 5:00 pm — Final networking session
