SPJ Colorado Pro stands with Colorado Sun reporter Sandra Fish

The Colorado Pro chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists stands in support of Colorado Sun reporter Sandra Fish, who was kicked out of the Colorado Republican Assembly in Pueblo on April 6, 2024. The action represents a hostile disregard for the fundamental standards of transparency, accountability and press freedom.

SPJ Colorado condemns the actions instigated by Colorado GOP leaders and calls on others to condemn these tactics as well. Interfering with and attempting to suppress journalists from covering matters of civic engagement is an offense to democracy.

The Society of Professional Journalists is the nation’s most broad-based journalism organization, dedicated to encouraging the free practice of journalism and stimulating high standards of ethical behavior. The SPJ Colorado Pro Chapter advocates to protect freedom of speech and of the press, fight government secrecy and foster excellence in journalism.
