The Colorado Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists has chosen two new co-presidents and a secretary of its board, welcomed new and returning board members, and said thanks and farewell to departing board officers.
The changes come as the Colorado chapter of the nation’s oldest and broadest organization for professional journalists has begun planning a conference next spring drawing participants from across a four-state region.
Longtime SPJ Colorado Pro board members Deb Hurley Brobst and Doug Bell will serve as co-presidents of the chapter. Beth Potter has been appointed secretary. Returning board member Dennis Huspeni continues as treasurer. And Kristina Pritchett, who has completed her term as chapter president, is now immediate past president.
New chapter board members are Fred Brown, Marco Cummings, Mark Harden, Corey Hutchins and Kara Mason. Brown and Mason previously served on the board; Cummings, Harden and Hutchins are first-time board members. Brown’s and Cummings’ terms end in 2025; Harden’s, Hutchins’ and Mason’s terms will end in 2026.
Continuing board members, in addition to Bell, Brobst, Huspeni, Pritchett and Potter, are Cara DeGette (term ending 2025) and Rhema Zlaten (term ending 2026).
Those leaving the board are Ali Watkins, Katie Langford, Dan Schaefer and Lisa Schlichtman.
