The world is changing, and the fundamentals of journalism are being challenged as never before. So how do journalists face the future?

We’ll tackle those issues and more at the four-state SPJ Region 9 Conference: Fundamentals and the Future.

Please plan to join your colleagues April 5, 2025, in Denver for this daylong event.

More details and a full agenda to come, but here are the basics:

Who: Journalism professionals, students and allies from Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.

What: Panels and presentations on topics of interest, a keynote speech.

Where: The Slate Hotel Denver, 1250 Welton St., Denver, CO 80204

Agenda: Details to come. Conference 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, awards 5:30 pm to 9 pm.

Awards: The conference will conclude with the annual SPJ Top of the Rockies Awards reception and presentation, plus the annual SPJ Colorado individual awards for Journalist of the Year, Keeper of the Flame (career achievement), 1st Amendment Award and Educator of the Year.

Conference price: $50 for SPJ members, $75 for non-members. Students admitted free. TICKET LINK BELOW.

Awards reception price: Free, but you must obtain a ticket. Deadline is April 3 or whenever tickets run out. Note that you’ll need a separate (free) ticket to attend the awards reception, even if you buy a conference ticket.

Provided: At the conference, continental breakfast and afternoon refreshment. At the awards reception, cash bar.
