Join us October 14 as the Society of Professional Journalists’ Colorado Pro Chapter welcomes author Kurt Wagner for a Book Talk event tracing the tumultuous history of the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
In Battle for the Bird: Jack Dorsey, Elon Musk, and the $44 Billion Fight for Twitter’s Soul, Wagner details Twitter’s “arc from gauzy ideals to the litter box of reality,” as the New York Times put it in its review. Wagner’s book charts Twitter’s rise from flippant 140-character posts under co-founder Dorsey to one of the world’s most consequential tech companies, from its relationship with Donald Trump to its contentious $44 billion sale to Musk and reinvention as X.
The author is an award-winning business and technology journalist leading social media coverage for Bloomberg. He’s been covering social media since 2013 and previously worked at Recode, Mashable, and Fortune. Wagner grew up near Seattle, went to college at Santa Clara University, and now lives in Denver with his wife and two kids.
The Book Talk will be moderated by SPJ Colorado Pro board member Marco Cummings, digital strategist at The Denver Post.
Chapter members and non-members are invited, although we’d love you to join us. Find out how here.
