Theodore “Bubbles” Anderson has been described as “a smooth fielding, long ball hitting second baseman, and a hero to a generation of Denver’s baseball fans.”
Born in 1904, Anderson played for the Denver White Elephants, Colorado’s longest-lasting black baseball team, before becoming the only Colorado-born baseball player in the Negro Leagues at the age of 17. He played for the Washington Potomacs, Birmingham Black Barons and Indianapolis ABCs.
Now, Anderson has been inducted into the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame.
On Tuesday, November 4, the Society of Professional Journalists’ Colorado Pro Chapter presents journalist and play-by-play broadcaster Justin Adams, who will talk about Anderson and his Hall of Fame induction.
Adams is an award-winning journalist and proud Denver native. He is the morning news and sports reporter/anchor for CBS News Colorado, where he has reported about Anderson. Adams also is a play-by-play broadcaster for various regional networks, and has worked for several sports radio stations. He is a voting member of the Hall of Fame committee and nominated Anderson for induction.
The discussion will be moderated by SPJ Colorado Pro events chair Marco Cummings.
