EVENT: Join us March 24 for ‘T-Storms, Trends & Trolls: Broadcast Meteorology in 2026,’ a conversation on reporting the weather in today’s climate

What does it mean to be a media meteorologist when your forecast competes with social media algorithms, viral misinformation and is subject to instant audience scrutiny?

On March 24, the Society of Professional Journalists Colorado Professional Chapter presents “T-Storms, Trends & Trolls: Broadcast Meteorology in 2026,” a candid conversation about how weather coverage is evolving in the current climate (no pun intended). 

As extreme weather takes over our screens and platforms reshape how audiences consume information, meteorologists are no longer just delivering the forecast — they’re managing brand, community and credibility in real time.

Be part of the conversation as we examine why trusted media meteorology matters more than ever — and how it continues to transform with technology. 

Our panel will include Chris Bianchi (9NEWS), Jaden Knowles (9NEWS) and Mike Nelson (recently retired; former Denver7 chief meteorologist). And more names may be added soon, weather permitting!

The experts will explore:

  • The convergence of broadcast and digital-first forecasting.
  • Building meteorological authority in a world of influencers.
  • Responding to misinformation and viral weather myths.
  • Covering climate science amid political polarization.
  • Navigating audience trust, online trolls and public scrutiny.

Where: The Denver Press Club, 1330 Glenarm Place. Metered parking is on the street, a pay lot is next door, and the free RTD 16th Street shuttle is two blocks away.
