Colorado FOIC Honors Four Open Government Champions
The Colorado First Amendment Coalition honored four open government champions Tuesday, Sept. 10 at the historic Denver Press Club. They are Tom Kelley, a veteran First Amendment attorney who served as CFOIC’s board president from 1997 through 2013; State Rep. James Coleman, D-Denver; State Sen. Mike Foote, D-Lafayette; and Kristin Bjornsen.
Colorado Sun Editor Thanks Community for Support During Sun’s First Year
Colorado Sun Editor Larry Ryckman thanked supporters for their help during the Sun's first year. "The Sun is still 100% Colorado-owned and -operated by its 10 founding journalists," Ryckman wrote, in part.
Denver Police Agree to Training As Part of Settlement in Colorado Independent Case
Denver Police have agreed to conduct training as part of a settlement in the case of their detention of Colorado Independent Editor Susan Greene. Greene was detained and handcuffed after she was photographing police last summer. The Denver City Council still must vote on the settlement, which includes a $50,000 payment, before it becomes official.
